SideDrive Conveyors AIm to Solve Sanitary & Gentle Handling Challenges

SideDrive Conveyor Co. announced its formal launch as the first and only company in the world exclusively focused on configurable side drive conveyor solutions. The company provides sanitary spiral and long-run transferless conveyors for applications including naked, raw and packaged food products as well as non-food products. Using only side drive, edge-driven technology from Intralox, SideDrive Conveyor helps manufacturers improve productivity and streamline production with food-safe and flexible conveyors that offer a low total cost of ownership. Made with USDA-compliant plastic, the belting, drives, rods and sprockets all stand up to high-pressure washdown environments for thorough cleaning. The plastic design also eliminates any risk of contamination since there’s no metal or need for lubrication. SideDrive conveyors are also flexible and can meet the needs of any application, plant floor layout or production need. Thanks to the modular, plastic belting from Intralox, conveyors can be configured in any way — curved, spiral, with turns, multiple inclines and declines, or simply straight — and without any transfers.

Next-Generation Horizontal-Motion Conveyor by Key Technology Debuts

Key Technology, a member of the Duravant family of operating companies, introduces Zephyr™, a next-generation horizontal-motion conveyor. Featuring a patented direct drive with a counterbalance system, Zephyr’s motion profile gently moves product with no segregation or stratification and at higher capacities than with other horizontal motion conveyors. Zephyr minimizes bounce, which reduces product damage, noise and loss of seasoning and other coatings to maintain product quality. Zephyr is ideal for frozen bulk foods like potato products, fruits, vegetables, meat and poultry as well as dry products such as nuts and cereals. With virtually no vertical loft, Zephyr reduces product breakage and the loss of coatings such as seasoning, batter and certain types of oil. The self-cleaning horizontal motion reduces the chance of product build-up, and the counterweight drive minimizes floor vibration. Offering up to twice the throughput of other horizontal motion conveyors, Zephyr moves product at rates of up to 12.2 meters (40 feet) per minute.

Fanuc America and Plus One Robotics Partners on Automated Ecommerce Solution
FANUC America and Plus One Robotics have paired their technologies to meet the needs of their mutual customers in the ecommerce space. The flexible fulfillment solution incorporates a FANUC robot and Plus One’s AI-powered PickOne perception system to identify, singulate and sort a range of conveyable items without the need for traditional vision training. Powered by AI, the system can adapt to variations in product material, size and shape, as well as intermixed, random delivery. If any exceptions occur, Plus One’s “Yonder” human-in-the-loop function notifies a “Crew Chief” who can remotely manage the exception, minimizing the interruption. Combined with a high-performance FANUC industrial robot, the system can outperform a comparable manual operation. The company states that users benefit from shorter pick times and better order accuracy, inventory security, higher productivity, reduced operating expenses and improved ergonomics.

Brown Machine Group Announces Automated Vertical Wrapper
The NAS e-Wrap Series™ vertical wrapper by Brown Machine Group (BMG) is an automated wrapping system that increases throughput and efficiencies, while reducing material costs and manual labor. e-Wrap Series wrappers are ideal for ecommerce markets such as apparel, office equipment/supplies, tool and part suppliers, pharmaceuticals and fulfillment markets. The e-Wrap Series offers up to seven times the productivity of manual wrapping systems, according to the company. With a small footprint, the wrapper features simple plug and play functionality with easy installation and a patented low-temperature sealing system to reduce maintenance and downtime. Using center folded roll stock to sleeve product into a bag, the e-Wrap Series automatically forms an envelope for product to be placed, seals it and applies a shipping label. This wrapping solution can be easily integrated into existing automated robotic conveyor systems. It provides integrated printer and shipping labeling functions in one package.
