Marich Confectionery Company Unveils Fresh New Look, Feel

New packaging showcases better-for-you ingredients, social responsibility.

Marich Pancrafted Chocolates, manufacturer of premium panned confections, is getting a fresh new look and feel for 2023 with a refreshed packaging design.

The refreshed Single Serve and Pouch packages feature cheerful, vibrant colors; a larger playful color bar for ease of identification at retail; and a prominent new flavor image that shows ingredients and the finished confections for greater appetite appeal, plus a soft touch, matte tactile feel.

Marich has also smartened up its appearance to better communicate its better-for-you ingredients and social responsibility. The refreshed Single Serve and Pouch packs now not only wear the Fairtrade badge of honor, but also feature a “No artificial” badge on the front of each pack. These icons allow consumers to easily identify attributes that are most important to them when selecting their favorite treat at retail.

KitKat Recyclable Packaging

Nestlé Debuts Recyclable Paper Packaging for KitKat Bars

KitKat, one of the world's most popular confectionery products, recently introduced recyclable paper packaging as a pilot test for the brand.

The recyclable paper packaging will be available for a limited time for its four-finger bar in Australia, across Western Australia, South Australia and Northern Territory.

Nestlé will produce more than a quarter of a million KitKat bars wrapped in paper in an exclusive partnership with Coles, a local retailer. The pack has a QR code which people can scan to have their say and give valuable feedback on the new paper packaging.

Packaging experts at Nestlé's Confectionery Research and Development Center in York, U.K., adapted and tested the paper, while scaling it up for use on modified high-speed flow wrapping equipment.

Sourceful HydroTec Paper

Sourceful’s New HydroTec Paper Pouch Reduces Plastic, Carbon Emissions

Manchester, U.K.-based global packaging company Sourceful (backed by Index Ventures) recently announced the launch of its new HydroTec Paper Pouch.

Made from FSC-certified paper, the HydroTec Paper Pouch reduces plastic use by 99% and carbon emissions by up to 40% compared to traditional plastic pouches. As a result of the dramatic reduction in plastic, the HydroTec Paper Pouch is also 100% curbside recyclable. As such, it’s now one of the lowest carbon footprint options for flexible pouches on the market.

To quantify and characterize the content of their pouches, Sourceful partnered with the Sustainable Materials Innovation Hub (SMI Hub), part of the Henry Royce Institute at the University of Manchester.

The water-based barrier in the HydroTec Paper Pouch can keep products fresh for up to 18 months, making it ideal for products such as confectionery, pet treats and coffee. Furthermore, custom printing (up to 8 colors), custom sizing and a range of formats, shapes and paper types allow brands to bring their ideas to life. And with its matte finish, the HydroTec Paper Pouch offers a unique way to stand out on the shelf among a sea of plastic.
