The MAX-PRO 24 continuous bagging system from Pregis’ Sharp Packaging Systems is designed to handle a wider range of products and bag sizes for fulfillment operations with a broad e-commerce offering. It includes automated technology, new web handling features and automated pass-through settings. Predictive maintenance via Pregis’ proprietary Maxwell intelligent interface is intended for trouble-free operation. The machine has a small footprint but can accommodate bags that are up to 24 in. wide and 36 in. long. It handles products that weigh up to 10 lbs.

The Alloyd Division of Sonoco’s patent pending, roll-feed, cut and seal machine for medical packaging applications that use Tyvek is compatible with all common Tyvek heat-sealable lidding, Tyvek 2FS, 1059B and 1073B. Able to handle a maximum width of 14 in., it incorporates an automatic Tyvek feeder designed to increase production speeds of semi-automatic equipment and allow for the use of thinner Tyvek due to the lack of air movement. Using either linear length measurement or a unique optical scanner ensures more accurate cutting registration, plus or minus 1/16th of an inch.

Dow Packaging and Specialty Plastics; Plastchim-T; Ticinoplast; and Brückner Maschinenbau announced the commercial availability of a wide range of tenter frame, biaxially-oriented polyethylene (TF-BOPE) for linear low-, medium- and high-density packaging films. These solutions reportedly enable customers to use printable, tough, stiff and visually appealing BOPE films to produce resource-efficient, mono-material packaging that is designed for recyclability. Customers of Plastchim-T and Ticinoplast can now work with a range of tested TF-BOPE films suitable for flexo- and roto-gravure printing.

A new high-barrier PE film from RKW Group and SAES Coated Films aims for performance and recyclability. The base film is RKW’s MDO-PE, which is designed to combine processability, high temperature resistance and the use of top-notch recycled materials. It can replace stiff films such as polyester or nylon, commonly laminated with PE in multi-material packaging. SAES then applies COATHINK, a combination of water-based deposition and metallization that reduces oxygen and water vapor permeation to rates below 1.

Earnest Eats has launched a new line of Snacking Avocados, which is made with freeze-dried slices of real avocado seasoned with sea salt and spices. The new line of avocado snack is available in three flavors, Sea Salt, Sea Salt Lime and Roasted Chipotle. The line is vegan, keto, gluten-free, on-GMO, high-fiber and sugar free. The snacks are available on Amazon and at the brand’s website. Available for $3.49 per unit (.6 oz) or $27.99 per 8-ct multi-pack. SNICKERS Peanut Brownie, the company’s mashup of two types of treats, became available nationwide last month. The snack features individual squares of a layer of caramel and a peanut-brownie filling coated in SNICKERS chocolate. The product has been added as a permanent addition to the SNICKERS portfolio and is available in single (1.2 oz), share (2.4 oz) and sharing stand-up pouch (6.61 oz) sizes. SNICKERS first offered an exclusive taste of the new product in July 2020, when 1,000 boxes from the brand’s first batch were claimed within three minutes.
