Aluminum-free, Recyclable Doypack

SÜDPACK’s  new doypack is polypropylene-based and therefore supports the statutory demand for recyclable packaging — with the same functionality.

The material is extremely rigid and offers all the properties that are necessary for the efficient and safe packaging of food in doypacks. The films can be equipped with different barrier properties and can be aroma-proof and guarantee optimal protection against moisture, UV radiation or oxygen. By substituting the aluminum barrier with a coextruded barrier layer, the shelf life of salami sticks could be guaranteed for up to 70 days during a pilot project for the zur Mühlen Group. Another important aspect is reducing the film thickness by around 10% achieving a weight saving of 26% compared to conventional packaging, resulting in a reduction in DSD fees. These high-performance films also boast excellent machinability, which results in a high level of process and packaging reliability.

Flexo Award Winner

Among other achievements, the award recognized the company’s use of FLEXCEL NX Plates to implement gravure-to-flexo conversions of personal care packaging for leading brand Colgate-Palmolive. Other entries submitted showcased the company’s innovative work with International Paper and Amparo Chemistry. They impressed the judges on a number of counts: the company not only proved to a global brand in a competitive market that flexo could match gravure for quality, they also developed new, 100%-recyclable substrates to replace hard-to-recycle plastic packaging, and devised new, streamlined time- and cost-efficient production workflows.

New Cling Film is Compostable with Industrial Versatility
